Baby Storytime

Parent and baby enjoying storytime at the library

Baby Storytime is a joyful 30-minute program designed for babies ages 0 to 24 months and their caregivers. Through rhymes, songs, fingerplays, and short picture books, babies develop early literacy skills while bonding with their caregiver and socializing with other families.

What to Expect

  • Welcome songs and interactive rhymes
  • Two to three short picture books with repetitive text and bold illustrations
  • Action songs and movement activities for motor skill development
  • Open play time after the program for socialization
  • Take-home activity sheets with songs and reading tips

Why It Matters

Research shows that babies who are exposed to language through reading, singing, and talking develop stronger vocabulary and literacy skills that benefit them throughout their education. Baby Storytime gives caregivers fun, practical ways to build these skills every day.
