About Riverside Public Library
Riverside Public Library has served the residents of Riverside County since 1908, when Andrew Carnegie donated funds to build the original Main Library. Over more than a century, the library system has grown from a single building to 12 branches serving a diverse community of over 300,000 residents.
Our Mission
To inspire lifelong learning, empower informed citizens, and strengthen community connections by providing free and equitable access to information, technology, and cultural programming for all.
Our Services
- Collections: Over 1.5 million physical items including books, DVDs, audiobooks, magazines, and music. Plus extensive digital collections available 24/7.
- Technology: Free public computers, Wi-Fi, printing, scanning, 3D printing, and digital media production tools at all branches.
- Programs: Over 3,200 free programs annually for babies, children, teens, adults, and seniors, from storytime to coding clubs to author visits.
- Community Spaces: Meeting rooms, study rooms, and event spaces available for community use at no charge.
- Outreach: Bookmobile service, homebound delivery, school partnerships, and pop-up libraries at community events.
Governance
Riverside Public Library is governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees appointed by the County Board. The library is funded through a dedicated property tax levy, state grants, and the generous support of the Riverside Public Library Foundation and Friends of the Library.
